Brief History
"I have been in and around water my entire life. Growing up my parents
had a pool in our backyard, in which on summer days, we would spend the entire
day in it until we came out looking like prunes. Also as a kid and we use to
spend summers down at the Jersey shore at my Aunt Maureen's and that's where
I found my fascination with the ocean, there was so much life! Not limiting
myself to salt water, when we were back home, I use to snorkel around the lakes
of Harriman State Park with my brothers looking for whatever interesting life
we could find. Then when I was old enough to drive, I'd keep a mask, snorkel
and fins in the trunk of my car, so if I were driving around where there was
water, be it the ocean, a lake, river or stream, I could always pull over and
jump in and take a look to see what I could find under there. So I was into
the water ever since I can remember. Underwater Photography
Underwater photography is my way of capturing and communicating that special
moment, place or interaction that would otherwise be lost forever. Sometimes
if I'm lucky enough to be there when something happens I can capture it on film.
The ocean is such an extraordinary place; everything around you is calling for
your attention. So much so that sometimes I don't know where to point my camera.
All you have to do is look; it's right there in front of you. It's all around
you. When you view my images, you're seeing what I saw the way it appeared in
front of me at that moment in time. I just snapped the shutter. Photography
allows me the opportunity of sharing my experiences and adventures.

sense of responsibility to the future generations and the future of mankind
as a species to try to make up for mistakes made in the past (intentional and
unintentional) and to change those that are being made today by those with less
foresight and consideration for others.
The ocean is such a delicate, fragile ecosystem, it's beauty and life-giving
forces affect all life on this planet, each and every one of us, our health
is affected by it's health...and every living creature is equally entitled to
exist without compromise in a healthy life sustaining environment.
"Maybe it's because we spend the first nine months of our life in water or
maybe it's because of evolution, but whatever the reason, I have always had an
insatiable affinity for the sea
I am drawn to it, very comfortable in it,
never bored by it, inspired by it's beauty and diversity and humbled by its sheer
force and power. Mother Nature's unparalleled imagination is spectacular and her
ever-evolving adaptability and unpredictability make the oceans of the world a
force to reckon with. Being beneath the waves, allows you an insight of seeing
and experiencing our ocean planet's oceans from within...and when you learn the
secrets of the sea that way, your whole perspective changes forever. The oceans
of our world are more than a spectacular natural resource to explore; they are
the life-blood of our planet, the plasma that sustains all life...including us.
Without its precious life force, life on earth would cease to exist, everything
would collapse. We are all connected; we are all dependent on it and on it remaining
healthy. We are one, with it and of it...we are one and the same.
Oceans forever joined together
this planet should not be called earth
"
Then I got certified and that was it. Wow! I couldn't believe it! Instead of
just skimming the surface, I was now able to go beyond the limits of breath-holding,
I was now able explore a whole other world. I kept taking course after course
just to keep learning more about diving because I was so into it. I also use
to go to bookstores and buy used college textbooks on oceanography and fish,
anything I could get my hands on to continue learning. Then before I knew it
I was taking instructor courses, because those were the only courses left that
I hadn't taken. From there it just continued on and ever since I have never
stopped learning, it's an ongoing process that's still happening. To this day
every time I jump in the water I learn something that I didn't know before.
And that's the key...it's all about being in the water; you've got to be in
the water. If you're not in there to see it, you're gonna miss it...the more
you're in the water, the more you'll see..."

My goal is the conservation and preservation of our oceans and our environment
to
protect the health of our ocean planet
our home
to raise environmental
awareness and to promote and inspire in each of us a sense of stewardship toward
our fragile ocean planet and all that live here. The health of our planet directly
affects our health and our quality of life. The world is getting smaller every
day. Our environment is being destroyed at an unprecedented rate. Raising public
awareness is key to saving our planet and us ultimately from ourselves. I sincerely
believe that education and pro-activity are crucial in raising environmental
conscientiousness and ecological awareness.
Seeing it first-hand, from the inside changes the way you look at the ocean
for the rest of your life
It is our responsibility to protect and to preserve our precious life giving
treasure for our children and our children's children and for all future generations
to come
We are our generation's stewards, guardians of the seas
let's do our best
not to disappoint those behind us
let's give it to them in better shape
than we received it...let us set the example for others to follow...Oceans together,
joined forever...this planet should not be called earth...
